So, how did it go?
I HAD SO MUCH FUN TODAY! Seriously! First, this is an awesome school. It was my first time teaching there, and it was just a blast. Second, the classes were too much fun. I mean, we really, really had fun!
I actually only taught 3 classes today. It was "block" day, so classes were 2 hours each. My first class was 9th grade girls PE. We started the morning with recreational reading. My notes say that it's in the gym, so I was sitting in the gym with a group of students, reading. I kept hearing this LOUD group from around the corner, which is NOT acceptable for rec reading. A few minutes later, this girl comes in, "Are you the sub?" She then told me that my group does rec reading in the cafeteria. You guessed it. The noisy group was mine. WHOOPS!
Then the class. We started with cardio, taking turns running laps and doing strength and stretching. I was exhausted watching them! And that was only the FIRST part of the class! The next part, we had the whole gym, so we played soccer for about 45 minutes. Finally, we had a small part of the gym, so we decided to play dodge ball. There were groans, so I jokingly said, "Or we could play duck duck goose!" They LOVED that! I figured, they were running (BIG circle with 29 students...LOTS of running) so it works, right? The weight lifting class was JEALOUS, and the 8th grade girls joined in. It was SO MUCH FUN! Needless to say, I was a hit from that point forward. The other women's PE teacher was impressed that I did that. I think she wants me to sub for her sometime!
Next 2 classes were Health. They had a test, and they finished it early, so we read a bit, then had discussiong from my backup sub plan book that I always carry with me.
Oh, and what about the debate about what to wear? Well, I wore some nice but roomy capris, with a tee shirt. I seriously need to run to Target and get a couple of PE outfits to wear!
