It must be Monday!
What is it about Monday? SERIOUSLY! This morning, Pattie and I were one upping each other in bad Monday. I think SHE won. She handed the trophy to me. I don't want it!
On my side, we kind of have to back up to Saturday afternoon. See, the Porsche was running but Darren needed to put gas in Blue Belle (my beloved PT Cruiser. After that, we ran to Hy Vee to pick up some food for a cookout. He cut the parking spot WAY toooooo close, and bonked Belle's nose on the cart rack. AUUUUUUUUUUGHHHHHHHHH! She sustained a tiny ding, that only Darren and I can tell is there. But that was just the beginning of her rough weekend.
Last night, the fam needed to run to Target. They took Belle. When they go in Belle, they go "Max Cruisin." That means, they roll down the window, open the moon roof, and go to town. Last night, for whatever reason, the moon roof was not closed.
Cue this morning. From about 4:30 am to about 9:15 am, we were in the midst of an incredible thunderstorm. A deluge that you only see in autumn in Kansas City. The rain was coming down so hard, you couldn't see your hand in front of your face. In the midst of this, nobody thought to check on Belle. While it was still raining, I took the boys outside so we could go to school.
Imagine my shock when I looked inside Belle, and there was nothing but WATER! ALl over the floor. Flowing out of the cup holders. Dripping from the top, from the steering wheel. We grabbed towels, but it barely mopped up the mess. My radio shorted out. For a while, the car wouldn't start. I was pretty upset. My precious boys were helping me dry her out, but it just didn't happen. Darren came home early from work, and we drove her to the detail shop next to Darren's dad's radiator shop, and they have promised to get her nice and dry. I should be able to pick her up tomorrow.
The rain wreaked more havoc, though. We were without cable until way past noon. The storm knocked out these vital parts of my life. Without phone or internet, I can't receive substitute teaching calls. Without internet, I can't work on web pages for paying clients. without email, I'm disconnected! HELP! So Darren and I lunched at Panera, where we both took our laptops and caught up on the important things in life...you know...the internet! HA!
In other news, estoy enseñando a español del colmo menor mañana. Since I don't speak Spanish, I am a little nervous, but I'm going to bring along slides from my trip to Mexico last year to keep the peace in case I find myself over my head. Wish me luck!
