I thought we had avoided "it."

"It" being winter viruses, of course.  But we haven't. Just as we have a hint of spring, with 62* temperatures, just a remnant of last Friday's surprise snow storm, and my crocuses beginning to pop their heads through the soil...just as I contemplated opening the windows to allow fresh air to circulate through my home...just as we had begun to drag out the windbreakers...it hit.

First was Mikey. He was fine on Saturday, and even invited a buddy over to play outside in the clubhouse, on the tire swing, and in their rooms. Then Saturday night, we realized the kids all needed shoes, so we took them to Penney's and Kohls. While at Kohls, he said, "I'm sleepy."  He yawned, his cheeks turned red, and he really hasn't participated in life much since then. At one point Sunday, his temperature was 103.2. Thankfully, our neighbor is our pediatrician, and we called, and she said to just keep an eye on him. I had him take a bath, and after that, his fever broke. He's been fever free since then, but is still pretty congested.

Sunday night, hubby left for 2 days in the Florida sun (HE says it's to mediate a claim; I think it was to avoid the sickies HA HA). I had trouble regulating my blood sugars all day, and by 9:00, I realized I wasn't feeling right. It's been getting worse since.  My temp only spiked to 100.6 (that I remember) and I'm not spilling any ketones, but I can't get my blood sugars below the 190s, and I am sleepy and weak.

I have to say, as lazy as I've been, my older two have really stepped up to the plate. They've laid out clothes, fixed breakfast, gotten themselves ready for school, all by themselves. I've done the very basics. They have kind of camped out in my room until bedtime, so we've chatted and read together while Mikey and I have lounged in bed.  I've gotten up a couple of times; twice to drive Matt to school and once to drive Emily to dance. I'll take her and Matt to dance tonight, but Darren promises to pick them up.

In short, I need a case of this:    so I can do this:   so I can enjoy this:
