A happy day in my life

Today is my 16th anniversary.

I can't believe it's been 16 years since Grandpa walked me down the aisle in my big pouffy white dress and lace boots. I can't believe the man who waited for me at the end of that aisle still waits for me today. The distinct thought that rolled around my head as we were taking our vows was silly..."Am I a Mrs. yet?"

It hasn't always been easy. There were times I honestly didn't think we'd make it. But here we are. Stonger than ever, more in love than ever, and more respectful of each other than ever.

We have accomplished so much. Amazing kids. Strong faith. The job of Darren's dreams. The house of our dreams. And the little things...vacations, our camper, the Porsche...life is so good.

We have also lost a lot of loved ones.  Our friend, Marcia. Mom and Grandpa. Grandparents. Aunts and uncles and cousins. We have also lost friends whom we've outgrown, or who outgrew us.  We have gained a lot. Our amazing and incredible miracle children, sisters in law, 6 nieces, and 5 nephews (and Tyler, who will be here any day now.)  Okay, we had Nicholas and Trace already, but they count, too.

We've battled health issues. We've battled money issues. We even battled a political issue when he supported a LIBERAL in the last election (I NEVER wanted to post that LOL).

We have truly grown up together. He and I are best friends. We love baseball, reading, camping, and playing. Life is a fun journey, and we are enjoying it together.

My heart still rocks when he walks in the room. His eyes may be lined now, but they are still startlingly blue, and reach into my soul. He still has those strong arms capable of holding me up when my life crashes around me, steadying me when I wander off course, and pushing me when I'm heading in the wrong direction. He is an amazing Christian husband who loves his God, his wife, and his family in that order. He is a moral man. He is a loving man. He is a strong man.

Hey, Darren, if you ever read this, please know...today, even more than yesterday, and less than tomorrow.
