Fresh perspective
So my categories are Comtemplative and Football. How odd.
But perfectly fitting.
Okay, I threw my tantrum. I'm over it. Yadda yadda. Moving forward. Still stinging, but that's okay. I'll get over it.
Today was fun. I went to the Chiefs game with two dear, wonderful friends, Dave and Sherilyn. They have been friends since college. In fact, Sher is my best friend from college. We took all of our communications classes together, and she, Georgia and I did our senior recitals together. We'd hang out, crazy, fun nights at the radio station where I worked. We were in each other's weddings. When we were newlyweds and SO POOR, we would do Friday night card nights at each other's houses. Poker and food, and mostly, friendship. My Emily slept in her daughter's crib before her daughter was even born. Her Dani was born 6 weeks before Matt, on the day I went on complete bedrest with him. We briefly lost contact with them when we moved to TX and I became so depressed that I got rid of many good things in my life. Imagine my surprise when I came home, called their number (it was as familiar as MY phone number!) and...they didn't answer. WHAT?
So, I Googled them, and much to my surprise, I found out they were living, not only in my new town, but less than a mile from my house! We have gotten together many times since we rediscovered how close we live. Their oldest daughter and my Emily are CLOSE friends (My Spacing, emailing, and cell phone calling daily). They go to the same school (D is in 6th grade, Em is in 7th). Overnights, fun times, movies, pool parties, barbecues...you name it, we have lots of fun together.
So when Darren got free tickets to the Chiefs game, of course we called Dave and Sher! We "tailgated" at Gates BBQ ahead of time, talked of good times, became excited about the future lives we're working for. We cheered and cried, and laughed and giggled and talked. We wonderfully talked!
It was just a great day. I love these people! Thank you, God, for bringing them back in our lives!
Oh, and the Chiefs lost. To the Raiders. I forgot to mention that.
