Ahhhhhh fall!
The leaves are changing. Nights are cool. There's a crispness in the air. Fall has arrived! Surprising to none, I am in the mood to travel yet again. I am getting tired of fitting my large family into small hotel rooms, or having the expense of renting two rooms side by side. I have been looking more and more into renting a vacation home when we go on our family vacations.
I really enjoy vacationing in the fall. There is a warmth in the coolness of the air. People come together more comfortably. One of my favorite weekend getaways was when Darren and I rented a room in a Bed and Breakfast one fall. We awoke to the scent of delicious homemade blueberry coffee cake, and cinnamon coffee. We enjoyed sitting by the fireside in an old, Colonial home, reading books and talking. It was a special weekend, and I'm so glad we got the chance to do it. I'd love to do it again.
I'll be honest...I've dreamed of meeting my friend who now resides in the Great White, and her precious family, halfway, just for a weekend. Our kids could play, and the adults could sit around talking, drinking coffee, relaxing...I found the perfect spot in South Dakota. It's called Bear Paw Lodge. It's rustic and beautiful, and sleeps 12. I think our brood of 4 adults and 5 children would be able to enjoy this immensely!
I've come across the VLBO vacation rentals. Here, they have listings for numerous types of vacation rentals, including condos, bed and breakfast, time share, hotels and more. The owners are able to upload graphic property descriptions as well as high resolution graphics for you to peruse.
There are a number of tools to use if you are looking for a getaway. There is a quick finder, where you simply find the state and optionally, the town, you want to visit. Select the type of rental you're seeking, press GO, and a list of available properties as well as descriptions are available. There is also contact information for the rental.
Something that really caught my eye about this site is that they have divided it into types of vacations. For instance, if we decide we're looking for a rental by the beach, this is the place to start! I also like that they list timeshares for sale. This is something we've considered, so it is very handy to have this information at our fingertips.
VLBO not only lists rentals in the US, but there is also an area to look for vacation rentals in Canada, Mexico, and the islands.
