Tap tap tap tap shufle step shuffle ball change shuffle step
Now I've done it.
I've decided I'm a kid again. I.Joined.A.Tap.Class.
And I'm not half bad! SHOCKER!
Now, it's been 25 years since I've work silver tones on my heels and toes. 25 years since my teacher shouted steps in time to the beat, "Shuffle ball change shuffle step." 25 years since I wore a swingy little recital number with sequins. But putting them on, hearing the tap tap tap...it just brought me home.
I was in the class of students who are GOOD. Who don't know what 25 years ago was! Who don't remember not having tap shoes. Tall, lean, beautiful, graceful. And when I forgot something, they took me over to the side and showed me until I got it. And didn't make me feel like that poor little old lady.
I'll have to say...I thoroughly enjoyed it.
After the class, I kind of knew I was a little out of my league. I went to the teacher for pointers, and she didn't agree. So I asked if I could take the Tuesday class, as well. To brush up on my technique (ahem, and memory). She is fine with that. So I'll be tapping tomorrow, as well. YIPPEE! Em's moving in that class, too. She's a bit overwhelmed right now.
So I'm now dancing 3 days a week. You know, for the first time in my life, I understand how people get addiced to exercising. Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I do Curves. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday I dance. Saturday and Sunday, I chase the kids around town.

Val, that is soooooooo cool!!!!!!!!!!! I smiled while reading this blog just imagining your smiling face happily tapping away. Are you coming to Daytona to the church service or dinner? I'm not sure if I'm gonna make it to St. Augustine... my husband told his Grandma we'd come stay with her in Daytona with the baby.... which is a MUCH better option than her coming to visit here. (Sweet ole thing, but she drives me CRAZY!!!) Anyways, my comment has turned into an email.
